1931 to 1969

Period for Spreading Water Infrastructure: Established foundation for the water treatment business

1912 Inokuty Type Machinery Office (the predecessor of Ebara Corporation) was founded

1920 Ebara Corporation was established

1931 Delivered the nation’s first rapid sand filtration system for municipal water (Niigata pref.)

1954 Delivered the first slurry circulation type high-speed flocculation and sedimentation equipment, “Accelator” (Osaka Pref.)

1955 Delivered industrial wastewater treatment facilities to Yugoslavia (first overseas project)

1956 Ebara-Infilco Co., Ltd. was established (A 50-50 joint venture between Ebara Corporation and Infilco Inc. of the United States)

1957 Delivered the first night soil treatment facilities (Atami city, Shizuoka pref.)

1961 Delivered the first water treatment system (JBAS) for beverage factory

1961 Delivered the first compost facilities

1962 Delivered the first rapid sand filtration system for aquariums (Tokyo)

1966 Delivered the first siphon type rapid sand filtration system, “GreenLeaf Filter” (Fukushima pref.)

1968 Delivered the first water purification unit for boiler feedwater

Period for Expanding Water Infrastructure: Established foundation for the operation and maintenance business

1971 Established a research and development division in Ebara Corporation Fujisawa Factory

1973 Delivered the first seawater desalination equipment using the ion-exchange membrane electrodialysis method (Shizuoka pref.)

1974 Won the first contract to operate and manage a water purification plant (Kanagawa pref.)

1976 Delivered the first low-dilution two-stage activated sludge treatment system “Denipac Process” (Shimane pref.)

1976 Delivered the first ultra high-speed pelletization and sedimentation system, “PBS”

1977 Ebara-Infilco Engineering Service Co., Ltd. was established

1979 Won the first contract to operate and manage a sewage treatment plant (Oita pref.)

1980 Delivered the first activated sludge treatment equipment by bulking free process (BFP) for a paper factory

1983 Delivered the first contact phosphorus removal facilities to a sewage treatment plant (Tokyo)

1983 Delivered the first biological fix bed filtration system, “Bio Pac”, for tertiary sewage treatment

1987 Alliance with Hanovia Ltd., of the UK for selling the ultraviolet disinfection system was started

1988 Delivered the first upflow anaerobic sludge blanket-type high-load methane fermentation equipment, “Metha-Pellet”

1991 Established a chemical plant at Sodegaura city, Chiba pref. to strengthen chemical business

1993 Delivered the first biological odor control system, “Bio Sweeper”, for a sewage treatment plant

1994 Ebara-Infilco Co., Ltd. was merged with Ebara Corporation

1994 Ebara-Infilco Engineering Service Co., Ltd. changed its company name to Ebara Engineering Service Co., Ltd.

1994 Started business operation in Indonesia (currently PT. Swing Indonesia)

1995 Delivered the first advanced purified water treatment plant adopting activated carbon and ozone treatment method (Osaka pref.)

1995 Delivered the first membrane filtration system for drinking water(Nagano pref.)

1996 Delivered a water supply plant to Changchun, China

1997 Started business operation in China (currently Swing Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd.)

1997 Delivered the first JBAS RO membrane treatment system for soft drink factory

1998 Delivered one of the nation’s largest “UF Denipac Process” (high-load denitrification membrane separation treatment system)

Period for Supporting Water Infrastructure Management Business: Developed the management business

2000 Acquired ISO 9001 and 14001

2001 Delivered the first “Sany Accel system” (bromine disinfection system) to treat sewage/CSO (Tokyo)

2001 Delivered the first plastic chain sludge scraper, “Finnchain” (Hyogo pref.)

2001 Started business operation in Vietnam (currently Swing Water Vietnam)

2001 Delivered a high-efficient methane fermentation equipment, “Ebara Granule Reactor (EGR)”, for a beer manufacturing factory

2001 Delivered the first UF membrane filtration system (Okayama pref.)

2002 Won the first multi-year contract to operate and manage a sewage treatment plant (Miyagi pref.)

2002 Established K.K. J Team as a general water business company

2003 Delivered the first on-site type methane fermentation equipment for livestock waste treatment (Hokkaido)

2003 Won the first contract to operate and manage a waste disposal site by the designated management method (Hokkaido)

2004 Started the operation of Rupeshupe PFI Corporation, a final disposal site for general waste, as the first PFI deal (Hokkaido)

2004 K.K. J Team won the first contract for the third-party operation under the Water Supply Act (Hiroshima pref.)

2005 Delivered water supply and sewage facilities to Hanoi, Vietnam

2007 Won the first contract to manage a water purification plant for an ordinance-designated city (Niigata pref.)

2008 Won the contract for the third-party operation of water supply facilities (Hokkaido)

2009 Won the contract to operate and maintain a sewage biomass energy utilization facility under BTO scheme (Toyama pref.)

2009 Delivered a large-scale sewage facility to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

2009 Ebara Engineering Service Co., Ltd. was established as a comprehensive water solution company consolidating water treatment business divisions of Ebara Corporation, Ebara Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., and Ebara Engineering Service Co., Ltd.

2009 Won the first contract for long-term operation and management business by the designated management method (Miyagi pref.)

2009 Delivered SHF Filtration Water Treatment Plant for Thirukkovil Water Supply Scheme (Sri Lanka)

2010 Started business operation in Malaysia (currently Swing Water Sdn. Bhd.)

2010 Strengthened business operations through the capital participation by Mitsubishi Corporation and JGC Corporation

2011 Changed company name to "Swing Corporation"

2011 K.K. J Team won the third-party operation contract including pipeline management under the Water Supply Act, (Yamanashi pref.)

2011 Won the contract of Astana Water Supply and Sewerage Project (Kazakhstan)

2012 Established Riyadh Branch (to fully operate in the Middle East)

2012 Established “Mizu Mirai Hiroshima”, which is the first private sector-initiated Public-Private Partnership in Japanese water business sector

2012 Won the contract of Centralized Sewerage System for Kuching City Centre (Malaysia)

2013 “Mizu Mirai Hiroshima” started its business operation

2013 Won the contract of Ngaliema Water Treatment Plant Extension Project (Democratic Republic of the Congo)

2013 Won the contract of the project for the improvement of water supply condition in Ndola City (Zambia)

2014 Obtained ISO 55001 certification, the first in Japan as private sector

2014 Won the contract of Vinh Phuc Province Investment Climate Improvement Project (Vietnam)

2015 Participated in "PT. Beta Pramesti Asia" in Indonesia
